Opportunity

Nviro is seeking a highly skilled Field Services Technician to support the delivery, installation, and servicing of water and wastewater systems across California. This dynamic role combines system operations, equipment transport, and hands-on service work for projects ranging from packaged treatment plants to pump stations and filtration systems. The ideal candidate holds a D2 Water Distribution, T1 Water Treatment, and a Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker endorsements, and thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced field environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain water and wastewater systems, including treatment units, lift stations, filtration skids, and chemical systems.
  • Safely operate vacuum trucks for hydro-excavation, sludge removal, and tank cleaning, ensuring proper handling of materials and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Safely transport treatment systems, tanks, and process equipment to job sites across California using Class A vehicles.
  • Load, unload, and set up modular systems and equipment in the field with a focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance on water and wastewater systems, including pumps, valves, chemical feed systems, and instrumentation.
  • Support startup, testing, and commissioning of treatment systems.
  • Handle chemicals safely in compliance.
  • Accurately complete operational logs, service reports, and regulatory documentation.
  • Collaborate with in-house fabrication, operations, and engineering teams to ensure seamless field deployment.

Qualifications

  • Possesses a D2 Water Distribution and T1 Water Treatment Operator Certification issued by the California SWRCB.
  • Holds a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B or Class A with Tanker endorsements.
  • Brings 5+ years of experience in water and wastewater system operation, service, or construction.
  • Demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude and effective troubleshooting skills.
  • Willing and able to travel regionally and work on-site for extended durations, including overnight stays.
  • Has completed OSHA 10 training, or is willing to obtain it; confined space and trench safety training are preferred.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying environmental conditions and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Maintains a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Committed to a safety-first mindset and capable of clear, effective communication.
  • Exhibits strong sensory awareness, including: Vision (close and depth perception), Hearing (to detect warning alarms, oncoming vehicles, and equipment), Smell (to detect noxious or toxic fumes/gases), and Touch (manual dexterity for equipment operation).
  • Willing to work a regular 4/10 schedule, and available for after-hours on-call duty, including occasional overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Confined space and CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Experience with MBRs, pressure vessels, media filters, or modular treatment units.
  • Welding, electrical, or mechanical repair skills.

The overall market range for roles in this area of Nviro is typically between $38 – $52 an hour DOE and certifications.
